Original 1900 photographs on card stock depicting the road leading to St. Stephen w/ attendees, entitled "11003 -- Gate of St. Stephen, from outside, Jerusalem, Palestine". Card stock reads, in printed ink:
"Keystone View Company, Manufacturers & Publishers. Copyright 1899 by B. LeSingley. Meadville, Pa. St Louis, Mo. San Francisco, Cal. Toronto, Can. New York, N.Y London, England"
Back of card stock reads:
"On the east side of the city walls we find two gates: the Golden Gate, which has long since been walled up, thus leaving only the Gate of St. Stephen on this side. This gate is caleld after the first Christian martyr, who is said to have been stoned in this place. The Arabic name of the gate is Bab Sitti Maryam, or Gate of Our Lady Mary, because the road from this gate leads to the Virgin's Tomb. The Gate of St. Stephen dates probably from the time of Solomon. It is built in an angle with the thoroughfare. The gatekeeper shows visitors the footprints of Christ in the guard-house Outside the gate are two lions in bas-relief in the stone."
