The Framery and Gallery at Decor Antiques in Exeter, NH was established in 1980 from an antique restoration and sales business started 15 years earlier. Our knowledge of period construction and styles of furniture and clothing and the proper methods of restoration and conservation of antiques serves us well in the fields of picture framing, restoration and conservation. Our continuing research allows us to advise our clients of the most up to date information and products available. Our extensive library is available for our clients use.

The Framery   

   The Framery at Decor provides museum quality picture framing by professional custom framers. Our framers have the expertise to enhance the value and beauty of your art while using the proper materials to preserve it for the future. They, in consultation with the client, select matting and frames to present the artwork in its best possible light. Our huge stock of contemporary picture frames and antique picture frames make it possible to properly frame art from the last two centuries.

The Gallery

    In the Gallery, restorers provide new life to paintings and antique picture frames. The paintings and picture frames are evaluated and clients select the remedies of restoration  to be accomplished. Artistic, historical and financial considerations must be considered. Restoration of paintings may involve tear repair, lining, cleaning, stretching, in-painting of missing paint and varnishing. Antique picture frames may require cleaning, re-gluing corners, replacing missing pieces and either touch-up or complete refinishing.

     On display in our online gallery are photos of a representative selection of our oil paintings, watercolors, fine prints, photographs, and antique frames and mirrors.

     Most oil paintings shown have been completely restored by cleaning, varnishing, and whatever was necessary to ready them for display. Most of the antique frames have also been restored and gold leafed, except where the antique value and “look” require the original antique condition.
